Inheritance

A one-of-a-kind solitaire game with no known published name — passed down through a family for generations.

Setup

Four stacks of 4 cards are dealt in Column A — 3 face-down, 1 face-up on top. The very next card becomes the anchor and starts Row 1 of the board.

Your Goal

Play all 52 cards onto the board, suit by suit, row by row.

Row 1 — The Anchor Suit

Any card of the anchor's suit plays to Row 1 freely — in any order, no sequence needed.

Opening New Rows

When a card matching the anchor's rank turns up from Column A or your hand, a new row opens for that suit.

The Permission Gate ⚑

A card can only be played to Row 2 or lower if the same value already exists in the row directly above it.

Row 1 ♦: 7, 9, A, Q, 2, 3
Row 2 ♠: 7, Q, 3
→ 6♠ cannot play yet — no 6 exists in Row 1.

Column A

Only the top face-up card is available. Playing it flips the card beneath.

Tap the deck to flip 3 cards at a time. Only the top waste card is playable. Recycle as many times as you like.

Some games are invented. This one was inherited.

Somewhere in the mid-twentieth century, a family sat down with a deck of cards and invented something. No name was given. No rules were written down. It was simply played — at kitchen tables, on rainy afternoons, passed from one generation to the next through nothing more than watching and doing.

No published record. No digital footprint. Just a game that refused to disappear.

Every rule, every mechanic, every quirk you'll encounter here is faithful to the original — an honest digital translation of something that was almost lost forever.

Scoring

Cards Played

Every card played earns points based on which row it lands in. Later rows are harder to unlock — and worth more.

Row 1 — 10 pts  ·  Row 2 — 20 pts
Row 3 — 30 pts  ·  Row 4 — 40 pts

Row Completion Bonus

Fill any of the first three rows completely (all 13 cards) and earn a bonus mid-game.

Each completed row — +15 pts

Win Bonuses

Play all 52 cards and you unlock three additional bonuses on top of your card score.

Pass Efficiency

Fewer trips through the deck means a more efficient game.

≤ 6 passes — +75 pts
7–9 passes — +50 pts
10–12 passes — +25 pts
13+ passes — no bonus

Speed Bonus

Win quickly and be rewarded.

Under 3 min — +75 pts
3–5 min — +50 pts
5–8 min — +25 pts
8–12 min — +10 pts

No Undo Bonus

Win without ever using Undo and earn the biggest single bonus in the game.

No undos used — +150 pts
